At first glance Joe Foster might seem like your average Joe. But do not make that mistake, if you read no further just know that if it wasn’t for Joe, Dempsey Racing would not exist.

Joe Foster was born on November 3rd, 1965 in California. At the young age of 8 his grandparents, whom had been stationed over in Europe, introduced him to the world of Formula 1. – Joe has never looked back.

Starting with racing carts at 11 years old, and the introduction to left AND RIGHT hand turns Joe was lead even deeper into the world of road racing. At 17 Joe moved to Europe to move up the ranks of the open wheel ranks and to follow in the footsteps of the heroes in the long time memorized book given to him by his grandparents.

Joe has successfully competed in various forms of road racing around the world such as Formula Ford 1600, Russell Mazda, Formula Ford 2000, British Formula Three, Motorola Cup, and the ALMS.

While racing in the British Formula Three series his season was cut short after a road accident and Joe moved back to the Atlanta area to continue on with school along with physical rehabilitation.

Joe graduated from Georgia Tech at the top of his Mechanical Engineering class and continued on to receive a Masters of Mechanical Engineering with a specialty in composite materials manufacturing.

Along with extensive driving Joe also educates others in the world of racing. Joe has been a long time instructor at Road Atlanta and has also taught with Skip Barber corps. And this is where it all began for the future of Dempsey Racing.

Joe met Patrick Dempsey while he was a student and they began a student/mentor relationship that grew into friendship, teammates and now co-owners of Dempsey Racing. Joe acts as team manager and runs the team from Atlanta along members of the Dempsey Racing crew. His 24 years of experience and knowledge about every aspect of the sport is a key to the team’s success.
